CineCopters: custom MoVI handheld rig and octocopter rig promo for “The Fall”

CineCopters bring together state-of-the-art unmanned aerial system (UAS) technology, the latest motion picture cameras, advanced gimbal technology and a group of experienced film and television professionals.  The custom-built octocopter “The Spider” sits on top of the MōVI MR/M10 3 axis stabilised head. It has 360 degrees of pan and 180 degrees of tilt while at the same time keeping a perfectly level horizon.

The head is controllable via either hand wheels or joystick (operators choice). The hand wheel system offers pan and tilt speed, damping and physical wheel resistance adjustable via the control console.  Head operation is monitored from a ground station via a zero delay video link. It also allows the live picture to be viewed on multiple monitors.  A two person crew is required when flying. One pilot and one gimbal technician/spotter.
Some of the cameras we can carry are:- RED Epic, Scarlet and Epic Dragon 6K
– Sony F55 & F5
– Canon C300
– Black Magic Cinema Camera
– Phantom Flex 4K
– Canon 5D DSLR MkII & IIICineCopters is made up of a team with more that 65 years experience in the film and television industry collectively. The versatility and unique design of both the Spider and MōVI allows the switch from the MR (multi-rotor) system into the hand held rig in a matter of minutes.Hand Held mode allows for both single and dual person operation. Single person mode allows for the operator to intuitively control the pointing of the gimbal by moving the handles without compromising the stabilization of the image. The gimbal takes the operator’s movements and intelligently converts them into stabilized pan and tilt movements. This allows for very low profile single operator setup and accurate framing in tight situations.Dual person mode allows for one person to carry the rig and while a second controls the operation of the camera remotely via either a joystick or hand wheels. This also gives a very low profile single setup with the addition of complete control over the head.

As well as being used in the MR system and hand held mode, the places the MōVI can be mounted are endless. For example:

Tracking vehicles
Crane, jib and Russian arms
Car, 4×4, quad and motorcycle rigs
Vest/body rigs
Rope rigs
Zip line rigs
Cable rigs

CineCopters’ pilots are fully licensed, extensively tested and insured under the Euro-USC BNUC-S licence and regulated by the CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) and IAA (Irish Aviation Authority).
