Fly Like a Bird Kickstarter project aims to make the dream of flight a (virtual) reality for everyone. The heart of this project is a camera, or what they call a “Vision Kit” – able to be attached to a drone, or anything else, put together with first person view (FPV) technology. This technology, they claim, is “easy to use and ground breaking all at the same time”.
The Vision Kit, when attached to a drone, gives a birds-eye perspective by sending a full HD live-stream image back to a ground station application call “Insight” via WiFi. The Insight application is fully compatible with virtual reality goggles such as the Oculus Rift.
When used together with the Oculus Rift goggles, the Vision Kit mounted on a 3D axis gimbal combines with the Rift’s head tracking feature to rotate the gimbal by turning your head, providing a “real “I’m there” experience”.
