We recently posted a video from Just 2 Guys Creative. It was an awesome video, so we wanted to learn more about the two guys behind the video. We spoke with Will and Gabe, those two guys, and learned that they are indeed creative, not to mention passionate and entrepreneurial. They live a life of adventure, and film it from all angles!
Tell us about yourselves and your background.
Just 2 Guys is Will Good & Gabe Ng. We’re college drop-outs that decided to start our own business rather than work a 9-5 job.
How did you guys get started in the drone industry?
We started a little under 2 years ago when we decided to take the payment from a client gig and buy a Phantom 1. From there it evolved into a Cinestar 8, then a Phantom 2 with GoPro. Now an Inspire 1 is our main platform!
Tell us about your company, what it is, and how you got started.
We got started in video and drone filming by following our excitement and deciding to live a different lifestyle that gave us freedom and adventure!
What type of drones and gear are you flying? Any plans to upgrade?
Our main aerial platform is the DJI Inspire 1 – we love the 4k video and dual operator setup. Our backup is a Phantom 2 with H3-3D and GoPro 4 setup.
What is your favorite drone to fly and why?
The Inspire! So easy, such incredible quality of footage!
Who are most of your clients, or your most common types of projects? What’s your favorite type of project and why?
A lot of real estate clients, music video shoots, and the occasional wedding aerial. We love any shoot where we can expand our creativity, think big, and create something amazing with a team!
What project that you have worked on are you most proud of?
We’re most proud of our most recent aerial release because it evolved so organically from a love of flying and getting awesome shots.
How do you make yourself and your business stand out in the crowd?
We stand out because for us this isn’t a job or a gig, it is a lifestyle and it’s who we are. We feel our passion for what we do pushes us ahead of the competition. Beyond that we have a way of interacting with clients that builds a relationship that will last for years to come.
What do you love the most about what you do?
The adventure and excitement of pulling up to a new location and capturing the beauty of it is something that pushes us to constantly explore new horizons
Do you have an FAA exemption?
Nope, and it has not been an issue.
What advice would you give to others who want to get started flying drones?
For a complete newbie – start small with something under $100 from Amazon, from there pick up a Phantom 3 and have fun! If you really get addicted pick up a larger system 🙂
What advances in drone technology are you excited about?
We’re looking forward to a new camera for the Inspire that has better low light, reduced grain, and hopefully 4k video at 60fps!
Thank you so much for your insights. Is there anything else that we haven’t touched on that you would like to share?
Follow your passion, spread happiness, and realize that life is short and the time to go after what you love is now! Oh, and fly safely and responsibly 🙂
