SAN FRANCISCO – May 26, 2015 – Hover, available on iOS and Android, provides tools for drone enthusiasts to fly safely, including: real time weather reports, no-fly zone maps, industry news feed, and timer. Most recently Hover introduced Flight Logs, now making it the must have app for Drone Enthusiasts!
The new flight log feature automatically pulls data from your phone like location, time, and weather data. The pilot simply enters the location name, other technical flight details, and then the log is saved locally and e-mailed to the user.
Hover’s other features include a no-fly zone map provided by Mapbox’s open source “Don’t Fly Drones Here” map which displays permanent and temporary no-fly zones in the US. The Flight Readiness screen displays real time weather reports including temperature, wind speed, sunrise/sunset times, and Kp-index. And the timer screen shows the pilot how much time they have left to fly their aircraft. For the dedicated enthusiasts they have a news feed that aggregates drone news across media publications, small blogs, and company blogs.
Hover was one of the first apps to be created by and for drone enthusiasts. Since launching in December 2014, Hover has seen hockey stick growth, and a highly active user base.
“We made Hover the one stop shop mobile app for drone, multirotor, and UAV enthusiasts” said Dan Held, “Our users love the app, and we’re excited to regularly push out new features that delight.”
The team hopes that Hover will grab the attention of the new and current hobbyists who currently use drones. The FAA is expected to allow commercial use for drones sometime between 2015 – 2016, and before then, Hover hopes to connect with enthusiasts. “We want to target the enthusiasts now, because the future entrepreneurs are going to be them.”
Hover cautions that they mobile resource for drone flying, but before you go fly you should check your local regulations independently.
Hover is the hottest app in a portfolio of apps developed by Analytica, a software development company based in San Francisco that focuses on mobile products for niche markets. Analytica was co-founded by Kevin Johnson and Dan Held.
