November 6th will see leaders and decision makers from every part of the drone industry come together at Drones Data X in Westport, Ireland (Friday November 6th to Sunday November 8th 2015).
Sponsored by Vetted and featuring speakers from Facebook, NASA, the Irish Aviation Authority (FAA), Verifly and major investors like Enterprise Equity, it is an essential event for everyone whose business is likely to be changed by the technological advances that are driving the development of commercial drones.
The event is the first major industry gathering since the publication of the FAA’s proposed regulatory framework for commercial drones, and the announcements of major investments in drone manufacturers. Uniquely, select attendees have the opportunity to spend time with VIP delegates during a weekend of structured action sports, social and networking events, taking full advantage of the spectacular surroundings of Westport, Ireland.
Drones are on the cusp of going mainstream in all kinds of industries – from agriculture to humanitarian aid, from gaming to photography and scientific investigations. The potential uses for drones with high quality computer vision is only emerging now that we have the data processing capabilities to deal with the images, and the lightweight power cells that enable the drones to stay in the air for long periods. Speakers at the cutting edge of all those developments will be taking part in Drones Data X.
The conference will feature Andy Cox, chief engineer at Facebook and a world record breaker for high altitude long endurance (HALE) drones that fly almost on the edge of space. Precision Hawk provide accurate sensors to collect and process visual or thermal based imaging, providing rapid data for use in a range of industries including agriculture, oil, gas and mining industries.
The other area that is beginning to evolve rapidly is the regulatory regime, and Drones Data X also features expert speakers in that field, including Parimal Kopardekar from NASA and Jay Bregman of Verifly and Ben Marcus from Airmap (www.airmap.io)
Philip McNamara, Managing Director of Voxpro USA said: “We are really excited about the quality of speakers, exhibitors and attendees as this event. It is truly a place at which businesses can be taken to the next level – whether directly through relationships built and deals brokered, or through inspiration and dynamism of our amazing speakers. Drones will touch on almost every sector in the next decade so and this is not something anyone with an interest in the tech industry can afford to miss.”
With its established tech community, Westport is already on the drone map as a testing ground for drones and associated technologies and is home to a thriving tech community Local sports companies have already signed up to sponsor the action sports weekend with mountain bike rides sponsored by Kona and MBW (www.mbikeworks.com), and kitesurfing gear sponsored by locak company Pure Magic (www.puremagic.ie)
The event is modelled on the successful Drones Data X conference which took place in Ireland in Santa Cruz in May 2015.
Drones Data X kicks off with the main conference on November 6th in Knockranny House Hotel in Westport. The exclusive sports and networking weekend is November 7th and 8th. Spaces for the weekend event are extremely limited so book early to secure your place and tickets for the conference and exhibition are also selling fast.
