If you’ve finally mustered up the courage to dive into the world of drones, you’ll find there’s a wide variety of drones for sale available to you regardless of your budget. Whether this is a hobby or job for you, there are some great options that’ll keep your wallet happy.
1. Blade Nano QX RTF Quadcopter
For about $80 the Blade Nano is an excellent choice for those wanting to develop their piloting skills. It has Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope (SAFE) technology which assists with takeoff and aids in the prevention of crashes. It will also hover in place if you let go of the sticks, which is perfect for when you need to regain control of the quad.

2. Hubsan X4 (H107L)
This durable quad is excellent for beginners and the perfect size for indoor flying. For under $40 it has excellent handling, quick charging time (about 30 minutes), and provides about 9 minutes of flight.
It boasts one-click flips for those interested in experimenting with aerial tricks, and if you purchase the propeller guards it becomes even more crash resistant. Truly, it is a great choice for beginners, and even more advanced pilots looking for something that is cost-effective and durable.
3. UDI U839
The UDI U839 is a mini-drone that goes for about $25. While small in size it is quite powerful, boasting a high-speed mode designed for outdoor racing.
Another great feature of this remote control drone is that is has a replaceable battery which helps to eliminate down-time. The rubber feet help with hard landings and the LED strips allow for night flying. It also has the capability to perform flips and 360˚ rolls.
4. Traxxas La Trax Alias
At just over $100, this quadcopter is built for high-performance and rugged durability. It has a molded-composite frame that is lightweight and generally indestructible. The 6-axis gyro also helps to maintain stability during flight and will allow the drone to hover in place when you let go of the sticks.
The motors have about 50% more power than the industry standard for this size, which makes it great for intense maneuvering and aerial tricks. Flight time is nearly 15 minutes and the battery is easily charged via USB.
5. Yuneec Typhoon G
If you’re looking for an advanced, professional drone at a more manageable price, Yuneec’s Typhoon G is a fabulous option costing around $500.
It is compatible with the GoPro Hero, 3, 3+, and 4 and has a touch screen on the controller that streams live video. It also has a 3-axis gimbal for increased stability. Another fun feature that the Typhoon G has is “Follow Me,” which allows the quadcopter software to automatically detect and follow you.
Max flight time is around 25 minutes and, of course, extra batteries can keep you flying for a decent amount of time. It is a great choice for GoPro videography enthusiasts.
6. DJI Phantom 3 Standard
For more advanced users, the DJI Phantom 3 Standard is an excellent quality quadcopter with 2.7k HD camera at a price of around $450.
This is a top brand with Intelligent Flight Modes that includes Follow Me, Points of Interest, Waypoints, Course Lock, and Home Lock. The Standard edition has varying camera features such as burst mode, bracketed frames, time-lapse, and more. It also has a built-in gimbal for smooth shooting.
Live 720p video feed streams to your mobile device and the camera can take 12 megapixel still photos. One of the best features is the incredible battery life of 25 minutes, which is at least double as long as similar quadcopters.
